Scott’s Backhoe Service started in 1978 and has been owned and operated by the Lounsbury family ever since.

We do the work underneath everything else. Sewer and water lines. Septic systems and drain fields. The hole a basement goes in. The grade a driveway sits on. The clearing that happens before a single stick of framing goes up.

Most of what we do gets buried and never seen again. That’s rather the point — when it’s done right, nobody thinks about it for thirty years.

What that adds up to

Since 2005 we’ve pulled 71 permits across Fluvanna, Albemarle and the surrounding counties — residential lots, commercial site work, and a commercial building project valued at $1.89 million.

We own our machines. Excavators, dump trucks, dozers and jackhammer attachments — nothing gets subcontracted out and nothing waits on a rental yard.
