What makes a wall last
Everything you can't see. A compacted base below frost, stone backfill, drainage behind the wall, and — past a certain height — geogrid tying the wall back into the slope it's holding.
A wall built without those looks identical the day it's finished. It just doesn't look that way in five years.
Excavation included
We dig the bank, build the wall and grade what's above and below it. One contractor for the whole slope rather than an excavator and a mason negotiating over whose fault the drainage is.
