Drain field repair and replacement

Wet spots in the yard. A smell that comes and goes. Drains backing up when the washing machine runs. Grass that's greener over the field than anywhere else. Those are the signs, and they don't fix themselves.

Repair or replace?

Not every failing field needs replacing, and we'll look before we quote. A field that's failed from a clogged line or a collapsed distribution box can often be repaired for a fraction of a full replacement. A field that's failed because the soil is saturated usually can't.

The honest answer is that you can't tell from the driveway. We'll dig, look, and tell you which one you've got.

What a replacement involves

New drain field work in Virginia requires a permit and a soil evaluation through the Virginia Department of Health. We handle that process — the permit, the layout, the excavation, the stone and pipe, and the final grade and seeding so your yard doesn't look like a construction site when we leave.

What it costs

A drain field replacement is usually a five-figure job, and it's almost always unplanned. We'll give you a written estimate before anything starts, and we won't quote a replacement on a field that could be repaired.
